The 50 yen coin with a hole was issued in Japan in 1959-1966 from nickel and from 1967 to the present from copper-nickel alloy.
The side with the value designation (reverse)
Inscription: “50” above the hole, the name of the era and the year of the era below.
The side with the name of the issuer (obverse)
1959-1966 – Chrysanthemum around the hole.
Since 1967 – Chrysanthemum flowers to the right and left of the hole.
Inscription: “GREAT JAPAN” above, “50 YEN” below.
