Coin with a hole 10 centimes Belgian Congo 1887-1928
The 10 centime coin of the Belgian colony in Congo with a hole was issued in copper in 1887, 1888, 1889, 1894 and in copper-nickel alloy in 1909-1928.
Design
Side with the value designation (reverse)
A star with rays and a hole in the center, the denomination designation at the top, three small stars on the left and right, the year at the bottom.
Inscription:
1887-1894 – “10 Ces..” at the top, date at the bottom;
1910-1928 – “10 C.” at the top, date at the bottom.
Side with the issuer’s name (obverse)
Five monograms of the king (1887-1909 Leopold II, 1910-1928 Albert I) in the form of a star around the central hole, each topped with a crown, inside a circle of dots.
Inscription:
1887-1894 – LEOP II R DE BELGES SOUV DE L`ETAT INDEP DU CONGO (Leopold II King of Belgium ruler of the Free State of Congo);
1909-1928 – CONGO BELGE BELGISCH CONGO (“Belgian Congo” in French and Flemish).
