Coin with hole 25 centimes Belgium – all types

The holed 25 centime coin was issued in Belgium in copper-nickel from 1908-1929, nickel-brass from 1938-1939, and zinc from 1941-1947. Two types of coins were minted throughout the period – with inscriptions in French and Flemish, separately in 1908-1929, in 1938-1947 in both languages, but written in different orders.

Design

Side with value designation (reverse)

1908-1929 – Branch with leaves to the left of the central hole;

1938-1947 – Three shields around the central hole

Inscription:

1908-1909 and 1910-1929 – “25 Ces” in French or “25 Cen” in Flemish;

1938-1947 – “25 С” below, “BELGIQUE-BELGIE” or “BELGIE-BELGIQUE” above.

Side with the issuer’s name (obverse)

1908-1909 – Crowned monogram of King Leopold II around the central hole;

1910-1929 – Crowned monogram of King Albert I around the central hole;

1938-1947 – Stylized crowned monogram of King Albert I around the central hole.

Inscription:

1908-1929 – “KONINKRIJK BELGIE” in Flemish or “ROYAUME DE BELGIQUE” in French, date below;

1938-1947 – date below.
