Gold coins of Revolt of the Heraclii Byzantine Emperor

Summer 608 through October 5 610

Heraclius, the exarch at Carthage, and his son of the same name lead a popular revolt against the tyrant Phocas.  The rebellion took two years to spread and get enough support to over throw Phocas.  After deposing Phocas the son was crowned emperor, starting a long lasting dynasty.
