On the front side is the coat of arms
of the city of Norwich, crowned with the Cap of Dignity, behind it is a crossed
sword and mace; under the shield are two palm branches.
Circle Legend: SUCCESS TO THE CITY OF
NORWICH.
On the reverse side, surrounded by
leaves, there is an old-fashioned showcase with two windows and a glass door
between them; above - a large round sign depicting a bird with
outstretched wings. Above the door is the inscription: "DUNHAM &
YALLOP", and under the transom the word "TEAS". Circle legend:
"NORWICH HALFPENNY 1792".
Edge inscription: "PAYABLE AT THE SHOP OF
DUNHAM & YALLOP GOLD-SMITHS".

Dunham & Yallop was engaged in the
manufacture and sale of jewelry, haberdashery, knives, and was also a tea,
coffee and chocolate dealer. The shop owners at Market Place in
Norwich were Robert Dunham (Robert Dunham 1762-1825), his wife Francis (Francis
1763-1816), and John Harrison Yallop (John Harrison Yallop 1758-1835), who in
1805 and 1809 was sheriff Norwich, and in 1815 and 1831 he served as mayor of
the city and was later knighted.
In 1811, Dunham & Yallop also issued
their tokens as a bargaining chip.
Several copies of the token with the date
of 1793 are known.
