Regional Replacement Coins (Donation Confirmation)
State porcelain - Manufactory Meissen
Medal coin issued by the
Provincial Department of the Upper Silesian Province in Racibórz (Pronvinzialausschuss
der Provinz Oberschlesien). This coin had mainly propaganda purposes. "On its
obverse we see the date 1921 indicated by a hand at the top. At the bottom there
is a legend: Oberschlesien Dank (Thanks to Upper Silesia). On the reverse there
is an allegorical figure of a woman with children hugging her. The woman
symbolizes Germany, the children - the Upper Silesian people. There is an
inscription around the rim: Dem wer uns trennt vom Deutschen Herd bleibt Schmach,
ist keiner Liebe wert (He who rejects us from the hearth remains ashamed, he is
not worthy of love)" / Lesiuk, Kujat - "Substitute money in Silesia in years
1914 - 1924"
